More to Come
xHTML/CSS Layout Conversion
Helping hotelsathome.com convert their luxury hotel e-Commerce sites to valid, semantic code, BFI hand-crafted xHTML/CSS and naming conventions that would allow other teammates to easily modify other sites to the same structure with minimal modification to original files. All content is driven out of a database. Seperation of content, semantic structure, and style... ahhh, project management bliss.
Deliverables: Cross-Browser, Semantic CSS/xHTML Pages; Javascript
xHTML/CSS Wireframes and Prototypes
Setting out to create this site, I wanted to experiment with some techniques picked up from "Transcending CSS: the fine art of Web design" by Andy Clarke. A technique credited to Jason Santa Maria in that book, gray boxes were used to set up my preliminary layout. Before moving to production with content, I applied a 7-column grid to fine-tune the CSS placement of graphical elements. I am really pleased at the restuls in terms of time efficiency and freedom from perfectionism. The "transparent PNG" grid allowed me to see where I could divide up space evenly and retain a balanced layout without agonizing over each pixel. Great tips in that book. Thanks, gents!
Deliverables: xHTML/CSS Wireframes and Prototypes, Elastic User Interface Design (go on, stretch it!)
User Experience Design
Hybrid Networks (HBN) is broadband services provider in the private cable industry. This application is intended to serve two purposes: enable the tenets to order services and enable property owners to manage their business.
Deliverables: Sample IA Docs (PDF), Front-End Static Designs, Back End Screenshots (opens lightbox, click in left or right areas to navigate)
Identity Design
Hybrid Networks was looking for something that visually spoke to the idea of technical, but also organic. The final logo uses a radially symetrical splash to suggest life, fluidity, natural. It also links to an idea "life as a network" which ties back to HBN's products and services. Color usage is contemporary for a sense of futurism and the clean, thinline typeface is demonstrative of the organization's professionalism.
Deliverables: Branding Identity
View Iterations (coming soon)
TV Channel Blocker
The TV Channel Blocker is a great solution for media-conscious parents who want to block questionable material from coming into their home. The challenge for this project was to convey a sense of security, provide information on the effects of media, and serve as a resource for customers to purchase, install, and maintain the product.
Deliverables:Complete Web Site User Interface with Flash Navigation and Movie, Branding Identity
Production Date: 2005
